We've just returned from interoperability testing at the NFSv4 bake-a-thon in
Austin, Texas. New linux 2.6 kernel patches and user utilities,
incorporating improvements made at the bake-a-thon, will be coming soon.
- July 21, 2003:

A new release (release two) of the NFSv4 backport to Linux 2.4 is now
available; see below.
- March 13, 2003:

A stable 2.4 NFSv4 implementation, based on the 2.5 implementation
that has been accepted into Linus's kernel, is now available.
The first release is a client-only release, with subsequent
releases containing full support for an NFSv4 server.
- Feb. 2, 2003:

Patches providing minimal support for NFSv4 and rpcsec_gss
have been accepted into the 2.5 Linux kernels.
But work continues; see below.
CITI is producing an NFS Version 4 Open Source Reference Implementation
that runs on Linux and OpenBSD. The current version passes all Connectathon
tests, and interoperates with other implementations (see the Connectathon
2001 Report below). We are currently working on Delegation, and async aspects
on the client, and adding kernel cypto to the RPCSEC_GSS kerberos5 implementation.
SPKM3 is being added to the user level RPCSEC_GSS implementation.
